Fix Windows boot-up Problems

This will hopefully help you get your computer back up and running if you’re having trouble getting it to startup after your BIOS.

  1. jamesrschultz says:

Open device manager-uninstall adapter-restart-Search for Windows update drivers.

If that does not work, find the newest driver, and without any drivers installed, install that one.

  2. trousien says:

err i fixed it but it turns out it wasn’t a driver issue… althought i was overclocking my driver and i thought that was the problem when the display went black.. it was having a conflict reading my tv output as my main and my monitor… so i guess switching the plugmonitor as my 2nd ins fixed it for now…

  3. tsukashigiro says:

my want when i on my computer and log in to windows then 3 min later ot restart then i on bck then log into windows then 3 min later restart then on back is black screen wait for 5min then wait 5 min on bck then ok my computer need make like fan sound then i cn play if my computer didnt mean you need restart

  4. WinVistaUser2 says:

Dude, on the Windows 2000 CD, do I hit R to restore the problem?

My problem is this: Windows 2000 Professional SP4 will not boot up. It will go to a blank, dark screen, no boot splash, or anything, just nothin’ on my screen. I recovered the OS once, and Windows XP once, still an epic fail for Windows 2000 Pro Sp4.

  5. jamesrschultz says:

That does indeed sound like your bootloader.

Hit R for recovery. when you get to a command screen, type : cd C:/WINDOWS

    Then try bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec fixmbr
    bootrec rebuildbcd

    If those don’t work try:

    fixboot
    fixmbr
    rebuild bcd.

If none of that works, let me know, I have lots of tricks up my sleeve.

  7. jamesrschultz says:

Sounds you may need to re-install Windows. Try that.

  8. 24nachos24 says:

can u tell me how or where i can find a solution to this problem without having a cd-rom or dvd

  9. jamesrschultz says:

I wish I could, you need the CD or DVD. sorry

  10. Thetgangster95 says:

hey i have a BOOT MGR problem so if you have any solutions please reply as soon as possible

  11. jamesrschultz says:

Boot the CD or DVD as I said, and do the bootrec/ rebuildbcd
    bootrec/ fixboot
    bootrec/ fixmbr

    If it isn’t ‘bootrec/’ it’s ‘bootrec /’

try some of those combinations, it should work. Just, do as the video said please.

  12. Mc30Laren says:

Look my problem is that when i turn on my pc, it goes to a screen that asks to boot either windows xp or recovery system. I put windows xp and then i put either start up normally, safe mode, or last known good config. and it just restarts and does the same. Please help me.

  13. jamesrschultz says:

Try what I said in this video, it should restore the boot loader. Good luck

  14. marcvie9 says:

  16. TheSonicWarrior says:

call of duty series half life 1 and 2 orange box halo combat evolved plenty of others i highly suggest doing research before blatantly saying stupid remarks about mac’s or apple in general

  17. Dredwings96 says:

when I do everything as your video says, it goes great till I have to command “fixboot” and “fixmbr” it says that “fixboot/fixmbr is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.” even thought the commands are given as options. what is the problem? please reply asap.

  18. jamesrschultz says:

Are you SURE you are doing this in the Windows setup command window (NOT in Windows) and you have C:/ instead of X:/Sources? That would do it. If i still doesn’t work, I don’t know what the problem is.

*Use “C” if “C” is your had drive letter. It could be D, but I doubt it.

  19. dwilliams061993 says:

it not working. i do every thing you say do but the same boot faild thing still pops up wen i reboot

  20. jamesrschultz says:

If that doesn’t work, it’s a different problem.

  21. sC2iscoming says:

i typed in Bootrec and it came up xD

  22. sC2iscoming says:

nvm wow tge options dont work

  23. curemymind says:

nice job. in windows xp you use the xp cd and go into the recovery counsel and you use those commands. but just the fixmbr and fixboot. you type Y when it asks you if you want to do this and hit enter and there you go. So 5 stars for showing how to do it in vista :)

  24. alanben75 says:

how do you repair the MBR in windows XP using a USB drive?

  25. jamesrschultz says:

No way I know of… Use the boot CD/DVD.
